Ella Antonio

Profession: Consultant and Corporate Chief Executive
Ms. Antonio is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Brain Trust, Inc. (BTI), where she has guided decades of interdisciplinary work on development policy, planning, and institutional reform in the Philippines. A licensed Environmental Planner and veteran policy practitioner, she began her career at the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), now the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev), where she was immersed early on in the processes of economic planning, industry development, and public investment programming—an experience that shaped her long-standing engagement with governance and development.
Over more than forty years, Ms. Antonio has worked across a wide range of development concerns, including poverty reduction, sustainable development goals, agriculture and rural development, governance and institutions, and futures thinking. Her work reflects a career that has consistently moved across disciplines, engaging with both the analytical and operational dimensions of development. At BTI, she has led and contributed to numerous policy and program assessments, research studies, and advisory engagements, often within complex, multi-stakeholder environments that require both technical rigor and facilitative leadership.
Her leadership extends beyond BTI through her involvement in regional and international initiatives, most notably as President of Earth Council Asia-Pacific, where she has advanced approaches that emphasize multi-stakeholder participation and the integration of economic, environmental, and social dimensions of development. Across these roles, she has contributed to shaping dialogues and actions around sustainable development in the Philippines and the broader region.
Ms. Antonio’s work is distinguished by a sustained commitment to bridging disciplines and translating policy into practice. Her experience across institutions, sectors, and levels of governance continues to inform her perspective on the country’s evolving development challenges and opportunities.
