Roehlano M. Briones, Ph.D.

Dr. Briones is an economist, with extensive experience in research and consultancy, specializing in policy analysis, quantitative modeling, and econometric applications.

He completed his Ph.D. at the UP School of Economics in 2000. He was an assistant professor in UP Los Banos since 1994, then moved to Ateneo de Manila University in 2000.  In 2002 he undertook a postdoctoral fellowship in Malaysia with the World Fish Center until 2004.

In 2008 he joined the Philippine Institute for Development Studies as Senior Research Fellow specializing in agricultural policy. He has authored numerous articles published in journals and books, and has co-edited four volumes, on the areas of rural development, impact assessment, poverty, the economics of agriculture and natural resources, international trade, and the macroeconomy. He is a member of the Board of the Philippine Economics Society.
