Maria Lourdes Lagarde

Ms. Lagarde is a development economist who has worked extensively on the development of strategic plans and programs that integrate environment in economic decision-making. She helped advance the cause of mainstreaming sustainable development in governance during her many years with the Philippine Council for Sustainable Development and the National Economic and Development Authority and later on with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs in New York supporting the work of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development.

She is currently based in Canada working with the Ontario government on brownfields and restorative development, urban intensification and green energy initiatives. On a personal level, she has taken an interest on social entrepreneurship and diversity issues in the global workplace.
